London Travel Diary Part 1

I’m so excited to share my first post from London! If you missed it, I recently traveled to London and Finland and it was an incredible trip – I can’t wait to share more! This was only my second time visiting London, but it is definitely one of my favorite cities. There is a certain vibe about London that I just love and I think the whole city is stunning – seriously, it seems like every road you walk down is prettier than the next!

Where we stayed:

We arrived on a Friday afternoon and our first stop was to our hotel, Hotel London Kensington, to check in. The hotel itself was pretty simple, but the location was great! I personally love the Kensington neighborhood and I think it’s a great place to stay – you can get around easily but it’s a quieter neighborhood with more of a residential feel. You might prefer to be in the heart of the action, but we liked being in the hustle and bustle during the day and then retreating back to our hotel for some peace and quiet at night.

What we did:

After checking into the hotel, our first stop was to the nearby Natural History Museum. The building itself is beautiful and the exhibits are really interesting! As we arrived late and the museum closes a little before 6pm, we didn’t have too much time to explore. We checked out a few of the exhibits and then went upstairs to take in the view – the giant blue whale skeleton is quite impressive!

Our next destination was to the V&A Museum, which is right next door and stays open until 10pm on Friday’s. This museum is large and offers a nice variety of exhibits – I personally love the sculptures and the fashion section. They were also featuring a special exhibition on Christian Dior which we would have loved to see, but it was sold out!

By now it was getting late, so we decided to leave the museum and head out in search of food. We walked to Dishoom in hopes of getting lucky with a table but our hopes were soon dashed as the wait time was about 2 hours. So we continued on our way and came across Côte Bistro, which looked to be popular. The food was pretty good – we both had a cup of French onion soup and the risotto along with a glass of wine. The jet lag started to kick in after dinner so we decided to call it an early night.

What I wore:

In terms of the outfit details, I wore a black mockneck sweater (sold out, this one from Everlane is similar) and my favorite jeans from American Eagle (also seen here). Trench coats are classic London, so I had to pack mine! I wore this one from London Fog which also doubles as a raincoat – very practical with London’s unpredictable weather. P.s. check out this post for another example of how to style this trench coat.

That’s a wrap on Day 1! Stay tuned for more to come from our time in London and Finland!
