What to Wear in Carmel and Pebble Beach in Winter

Pebble Beach is hands down one of my favorite places! I would move into the Inn at Spanish Bay in a heartbeat if I could! My family and I have visited Carmel and Pebble Beach around Christmas-time the past few years and it’s become a bit of a tradition. Carmel is such a beautiful place and is especially nice to visit in the winter season – the weather tends to be quite mild. If you’re planning a trip here, you may be wondering what to wear in Carmel and Pebble Beach. In this post, I will be sharing everything I wore over a weekend trip and my recommendations of what to pack.

Day 1

My number one tip for what to wear in Carmel and Pebble Beach is to wear layers! The weather can change quite a bit (sunny one minute, foggy the next), so it can get very chilly! Having layers like a liner, sweater, jacket, coat, scarf, and hat ensures that you will always be comfortable!

Our first day in Pebble Beach was spent wandering around downtown Carmel and walking along the beach. I went with a neutral-toned outfit (also see this post for more neutral inspiration) and styled the look around a beautiful cream coat (similar, also see this one and this one). I styled the coat with a simple white sweater from Everlane and my favorite jeans from American Eagle. During the day, I wore my trusty Nike’s – they’re so comfy and perfect for walking around town!

In the evening, I changed into these gorgeous Marc Fisher taupe over-the-knee boots (also seen in this post). This look is all about the accessories! I added a neutral-toned striped scarf and a great pair of cognac leather gloves for some additional warmth. Although it was beautiful out on this day, it got chilly as the sun went down, so the cold weather accessories were needed!

Day 2

There are so many beautiful hiking and walking trails in and around Pebble Beach (also see this post), so definitely pack a workout outfit or two! Again, wear layers as the weather can fluctuate a lot!

On this day, we went on a hike in the morning. The sky was clear but the temperature was crisp, so I bundled up in layers. My green workout jacket is from Zella – I wear it all the time and own it in four colors! It’s perfect to wear for working out and also just as an athleisure piece. On top, I wore a heavier green puffer jacket (similar, I also like this one). This puffer jacket has been a big favorite of mine this year and is perfect to wear on walks as it keeps you warm. I also wore my favorite leggings from Zella and a pair of hiking boots (similar).

In the evening, I changed back into the H&M cream coat from the day before (I can’t get enough!). This time, I styled it with a black turtleneck, a beige blanket scarf (similar), and a pair of black over-the-knee boots from Marc Fisher (also styled here and here).

Day 3

Neutral-toned pieces are always nice to wear in Carmel and Pebble Beach as they match the beachy aesthetic. However, I also like to pack a fun statement piece, like this beautiful burgundy coat from Anne Klein! This coat was perfect to wear on a walk along the beach boardwalk. See this post for the full outfit details.

Day 4

While in Pebble Beach, you will want to take plenty of walks along the beach! It is beautiful, even on foggy mornings! Always bundle up and wear layers that you can take off as the weather heats up (which it can as the fog burns off).

You can’t go wrong with a classic black belted coat! It will give you the warmth you need while also looking chic! I wore a puffer jacket from Everlane underneath for even more warmth and also a pair of black leather gloves.

I hope this helps if you’re looking for ideas on what to wear in Carmel and Pebble Beach! You really can’t go wrong by packing plenty of layers! If you’re looking for more from Pebble Beach, check out this post for inspiration on how to spend a weekend in Carmel and Pebble Beach.
